Articles and news focused on Building Resilience in the Supply Chain.

MAY 2012

A subtle change to the conference name this year, which reflects the growing interest of organisations seeking to build upon their resilience, the conference title has been changed to ‘Building Resilience in the Supply Chain’ but the BRiSC brand remains unchanged and with it its reputation for providing low cost, high quality conferences.

The success of previous conferences has resulted in attracting highly qualified speakers including a Senior Vice President from DHL Supply Chain, the BSI discussing ISO22301, an ex Managing Director of Belfor with personal experiences of the 2011 Japanese earthquake, tsunami and Thai floods and a special welcome for a senior risk manager all the way from Microsoft HQ in Seattle who will be adding a welcome international contribution to the day! Importantly this conference maintains its reputation as a low cost, yet high value event, with great networking opportunities, and all prices are frozen at last year’s low levels thus making this a conference you can afford to attend and can’t afford to miss! BCMS - Smart Assurance
BCMS Assurance – Why bother? Preparing for High-impact, Low-probability Event
According to this new report from the international affairs think tank Chatham house. The UK could stand "at most a week" of disruption when a natural or man-made disaster struck before severe problems, economic and social, that would bring chaos to the country.

As 2012 gets under way running in crisis mode has become business as normal for many public services. As a result there is little flexibility when a real crisis strikes and the increasing complexity of supply chains has resulted in increasing threats to organisations when these crisis occur. This report is essential reading for all those concerned with the resilience of their organisation no matter what public service, or industry, they are involved in.
